Home for the Holidays Campaign: Find Your Perfect Match
The Prince William County Animal Shelter will participate in the Home for the Holidays Campaign from Thanksgiving through New Year’s Eve.  The PWSPCA will sponsor the adoption fee for each pet that is adopted during this time.  As an added bonus, if the pet is unaltered, the spay/neuter procedure will also be waived thanks to the sale of pet-friendly license plates in our community. Please note: The PWSPCA cannot stress enough that pets are never to be given as holiday gifts and only those families with the time, financial resources and space should adopt this holiday season.  There is nothing sadder than a dog or cat that is adopted and returned to the shelter after the holidays.  Only adopt if you can provide a forever home for the pet.

2008 Pet Adoption Trees: Find Your Perfect Match
For the fourth year, the PWSPCA is sponsoring its pet adoption trees.  Volunteers have spent the last few months making ornaments that are adorned with photos of an adoptable pet at the Prince William County Animal Shelter and the Manassas City Animal Adoption Center.  Adoption trees will be decorated with the ornaments and placed at area businesses around the community to include Manassas Mall near Santa, Petco in Manassas, Southern States, Stonewall Veterinary Clinic in Gainesville and Comcast offices in Dale City and Manassas.  Thank you to all the businesses that are hosting a tree and to the many volunteers who update pet photos during the holiday season.

Prince William SPCA is Helping Shelter Pets this Holiday Season!
Visit the PWSPCA Pet Adoption Trees

This time of year, seeing animals in shelters is sad and disheartening, more so than any other time of the year. The PWSPCA hopes to change that with its Pet Adoption Tree Program. For the second year in a row, Pet Adoption Trees will be placed around the Prince William County region.  These holiday trees will be decorated with paper ornaments that have a photo of a cat or dog that is up for adoption at the Prince William County Animal Shelter or the City of Manassas Animal Adoption Center.  A preliminary list of locations can be found below. More will be added as we get them. If your business would like to support this activity by hosting a tree, please e-mail pwspca@pwspca.org.

Book Signing at Borders in Manassas to Benefit the Prince William SPCA
Manassas, Va., November 1, 2006 – On Saturday, November 18, 2006, from 3 to 5 pm, author W. R. Pursche will sign copies of his book, “Lessons to Live By: The Canine Commandments,” at the Borders bookstore in Manassas at 11270 Bulloch Drive, just off of I-66 at exit 47. 100% of the net proceeds of the books purchased that day will be donated to the Prince William SPCA. In this moving and uplifting work, W. R. Pursche examines how dogs live and translates their way of life into lessons for us to live by. Unlike other negative ‘rules’ that are often thrown at us (“Don’t do this! Don’t do that!”) these lessons are all appealingly positive. More than just a book of quotes or stories, and filled with examples from everyday life, Lessons to Live By: The Canine Commandments plainly shows how we can all benefit from the wisdom of dogs. Whether or not you have a dog or even like dogs, these memorable lessons will provide you or someone you know with a straightforward and uncomplicated approach to living a happier and more fulfilling life. The book has been described as "artful and well written," and "reminiscent of The Tao of Pooh," and "an outstanding motivational and gift book." The Midwest Book Review writes: "Highly recommended as an inspirational gift, especially for dog owners but sure to add a ray of cheer for anyone with fond memories of a beloved four-footed friend." Mention the Prince William SPCA when you have your book signed and the author will double the donation for your book! Makes a wonderful holiday gift! For more on this book, click here.
