Volunteers are needed to assist in the efforts of the Prince William SPCA.  We are a an all-volunteer group that relies on the time, dedication and efforts of our volunteers.  Whether you want to volunteer several hours a week or just a few hours every month or two, positions are available in all areas and can be tailored to meet your schedule.  We are a small group and need people in order to grow. Please remember that the PWSPCA has no animal shelter but we do work directly with the Prince William County Animal Shelter on their "Petfinder Project".

To become a volunteer, please fill out an on-line application, click here.

Please note: The Prince William SPCA is updating its database and is asking all volunteers to fill out the new form even if you recently filled it out.  We ask all current volunteers and board members to fill out the form as well.  We are working to keep our volunteers better informed of specific opportunities while minimizing the number of contact e-mails we send out.  Starting January 30, 2010, only volunteers who fill out this form specifying their areas of interest will receive information on volunteer opportunities. No hard copies of the registration form are being accepted.

Youth Volunteers (11-18 years old)
Young animal lovers are always welcome to help the Prince William SPCA in our mission of helping companion animals. However, not all volunteer opportunities are open to individuals under 18 years old. Below you will find information on what opportunities are best suited for younger volunteers. Parents, community group leaders and other adults may register their children or your group on the volunteer registration form.

“Snuggle” Project Donations
Both the Prince William County and the Manassas City Animal shelters currently accept donations made through the “Snuggles” pet blanket program. This program, sponsored by Hugs for Homeless Animals (H4HA), provides shelter pets with security blankets made by crafters. If you love to crochet, knit, quilt or sew and would like to support the shelters through this project, please visit http://www.snugglesproject.org for guidelines. This is a great scout or 4-H project for younger animal-lovers. Before making your donation to the shelters, please call the shelters ahead of time to be certain they have the space for your blankets.
For info on the shelters, click here.

Animal Adoption Trees
Each fall, the Prince William SPCA needs volunteers to help with its Shelter Pet Ornament program. Volunteers are needed to cut out ornaments (this can be done any time of the year) and in November-December, volunteers are needed to construct ornaments with shelter pet photos. If you are interested in this activity, please register to be a volunteer (see link above) and indicate your interest in this program.

Pet Food Pantry Collectors
The Prince William SPCA is sponsoring a Pet Food Pantry for needy families in the area. The pantry is located in the front lobby of the Manassas City Animal Adoption Center and is open during their normal business hours. They are located 10039 Dean Dr. in Manassas, Va. If you can donate any items, please take them directly to the pantry. Follow the donation procedures posted to receive a receipt for your donation. Click here for a collection box sign.
